Wallsworth Art Group

The Wallsworth Art Group meets throughout the year to enjoy a programme of evening demonstrations, films, talks, practical art workshops and other events. It is open to all. There is no selection procedure to join the group or to take part in its annual exhibition. Some members are very new to art and others have enjoyed art practice for many years. The group aims to be all-inclusive and to provide a stimulating, encouraging and non-judgemental environment where people can learn about and explore different aspects of art and art techniques.

Meetings are normally held on the first Monday and third Wednesday of each month in the evening (check the list below). Each evening starts at 7pm and lasts for an hour or so.

Guests pay £3 per evening, otherwise meetings are free to members who pay an annual fee (just £20) to join. Some evenings may incur a small extra charge for, for example, special materials or a model. Non-members are welcome to come to any meeting without booking.

  • February 19th: Meet graphite artist Jamie Boots and try a drawing exercise set by him
  • March 3rd: Meet colour pencil artist Karen Coulson and try a layering and blending exercise set by her
  • March 19th: An evening with painter and illustrator Jenny Reynish
  • April 7th: An evening with charcoal artist Lynton Bolton
  • April 16th: An evening discovering goldwork with Kim Hardie
  • May 5th: An evening with printmaker Denise Coble.

  • June 2nd: An evening studying the Miniature exhibition in the company of RMS sculptor Philip Nelson
  • June 18th: An evening with wildlife artist Neal Griffin (with a practical element)

  • Sept 1st: A viewing of the British Wildlife Photography Awards

  • Oct 4th: A look at our Totally Tactile exhibition in the company of one of the blind people who have been helping Nature in Art create new ways to access our collection.

  • Nov 3rd: An evening with wildlife and travel artist Shelly Perkins
  • Nov 19th: Members sharing ideas, techniques and new discoveries
