Artists at Work

Our unique artist in residence programme is currently postponed due to Covid restrictions. Usually, from late January to the end of November each year visitors have the chance to see at least one different artist at work each week – a rare chance to see the creative process in action. The range of styles and media demonstrated reflects the diversity of Nature in Art’s collection, and visitors tell us that even if what the artist is doing is unfamiliar, it is still a fascinating part of a visit to Nature in Art.

This selection of videos is a virtual way for you to get a glimpse of artists at work. Some films have commentaries, some don’t. Some are quite short, others a little longer. Some are time-lapse films following a piece from beginning to end and others tell stories of inspiration and technique in real time. None are designed to be instructional videos, but to be of interest to both the art appreciator and practitioner. We hope that they will inform viewers who may then look at other works in the future, or the natural world that has inspired them, with fresh eyes.

This is a new and developing resource (originally planned for launch in 2021 but brought forward due to the Covid-19 lockdowns), so we will be adding to the videos available over time. Please revisit in the future.
