Art Course
with Josie Brown 10am – 5pm

This 1-day course will allow you to explore the art of bookbinding, as you make a journal using a Japanese Butterfly binding, which is suitable for artists and calligraphers alike to use.
This book opens completely flat and you will be able to make any size or shape, with a mix of different weight or surface papers and you may even wish to incorporate pockets or fold-outs.
The cover is a simple wrap-style and can be soft or hard-backed.
Josie is also running another course to accompany this one, which will take place on Sunday 4th December. On that course you can learn the art of Calligraphy and begin to fill your hand-bound journal with colourful ‘Mouse Roman’ script.

All materials will be supplied by Josie Brown, at a cost of £6 per participant,
payable directly to her on the day.
Artist’s Profile
Josie is a professional scribe, heraldic artist and book maker. She has been teaching these skills for over 30 years and offers a wide range of lettering styles, bindings and decorative techniques.
She is a sensitive and enthusiastic teacher, and particularly passionate about helping people to reach the potential of their creativity.
