Art Course 
with Ian Coleman

The iPad is a great concept sketching tool for conventional paintings, creating hybrid digital images or full digital works.
On this 1-day course Ian will familiarize you with the application Procreate. He will go through its functions and you will learn how to, import and export your work, import brushes, create brushes and create artworks in various styles from graphic lines to photo-real brushwork.

Artist’s Profile
Ian Coleman is a professional artist and over the last 32 years has produced gallery artworks in acrylics and oils, illustrations and graphic designs for books and advertising.
For last 10 years Ian has run weekend courses on oil painting, watercolours and acrylic
techniques. He is well known for his natural history paintings with a particular interest in marine-life.

Artist in Residence
Linda Heaton-Harris is a sculptor of ceramic animals and birds.
For the majority of her life she has lived in the countryside which has included the counties of Suffolk, Sussex and Gloucestershire, enhancing her lifelong love of the natural world and animals in general. Linda lived for many years in the Hampshire village of Selborne famous for “The Natural History of Selborne” by the 18th Century naturalist Gilbert White.
Join the art group as they explore the mediums of charcoal and pastels, both different but very expressive art forms. Each member of the group will be able to explore the effects that can be achieved with the mediums and begin to produce their own mixed media drawing.
There is an optional £1 supplement for this event.
October Half Term Art Activity Days:
This October we are running a range of our popular art activity days for children aged 3 years and over. They include:
20th Oct – Rocket Sewing Cushion
21st Oct – Stained Glass Effect Autumn Garland
25th Oct – Pompom Pumpkins
26th Oct – Incy Wincey Spider FLIES Up the Spout!
27th Oct – Firework Paintings Inspired by Jackson Pollock
Each workshop interprets the day’s theme using age appropriate materials and techniques. The different times are:
10.30-12.00pm: for 3 – 7 years
1.00-2.30pm: for 3 – 18 years
3.00-4.30pm: for 8 – 18 years
Each activity costs £6 per child and includes free entry to the museum for one accompanying adult. All activity must be booked in advance via our online booking system.

Art Course
with Simon Williams 10am – 5pm
Maximum Participants: 12
The 2-day course will focus on botanical painting, giving you the opportunity to work with alternative mediums such as gouache or acryl gouache. Taking the course in
watercolour is also available if you would prefer to stick to a familiar medium.
Throughout this course you will be guided in colour mixing, botanical accuracy and the most important skills to gaining three dimensional forms to botanical studies.
This course is open to all levels but a precise rather than loose style of painting will be
required.

Simon is one of the country’s leading botanical artists and Course Director for the Society of Botanical Artists Distance Learning Diploma Course. He is listed in the 35th Edition of Who’s who in Art.
Through his business, SW Illustrations, Simon has worked for some of the largest advertisement branding agencies such as JDO Brand Design and Innovation, Tangible Advertising Agency and freelance for magazines, publishers and wildlife art agencies/studios.
