Watch a film about a unique initiative – The Rock Music Rock Art project which was inspired by the ancient ‘rock gongs’ of remote Lolui Island in Lake Victoria, Uganda. Sponsored by the Ruwenzori Sculpture Foundation and supported by the British Council, sculptor Peter Randall-Page, composer Nigel Osborne and members of the London Sinfonietta visited Lolui Island where they collaborated with local sculptors and musicians. Whilst on the island, Peter Randall-Page explored and absorbed his surroundings and the island’s ancient culture and created a sculpture in situ and a new body of work on his return. As a member of the design team for the Education Resource Centre (The Core) at the Eden Project in Cornwall, Peter influenced the overall design of the building incorporating an enormous granite sculpture (‘Seed‘) at its heart.

Artist’s Profile Sharon Foley began working with glass in 1999. She started making stained glass panels and quickly used lots of different processes to obtain various effects. Once she had acquired her own kiln she began experimenting with more 3-dimensional forms.
Sharon completed a Masters degree glass course at Wolverhampton University which gave her the freedom to use this transparent material in other ways. She now expresses her ideas by combining kiln formed glass with
other media.
