Artist in Residence
Amanda Lawrence is a glass artist specialising in engraved glass and kiln formed glass. She is member of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen.
Most recently she has been working on a project inspired by her exploration of the Slad Valley where she lives.
Exhibition:
The Wildlife Art Society International annual selling exhibition of wildlife art comes to Nature in Art.
Around 300 paintings, drawings, original prints, photographs and sculpture by professional and part-time members of this active organisation will be on display, the majority for sale.
Members of the Society will also be demonstrating throughout the exhibition.
The exhibition is FREE to attend *normal admission charges apply to view the museum galleries* and is on show until June 5th.
Artist in Residence
Kim Thompson is both a wildlife artist and illustrator. She trained at Dyfed College of Art in West Wales and has always been inspired by the natural world.
She primarily works in oils acrylics and pencils, creating unique and vibrant works with realistic detail.

Dafila Scott is the daughter of the late Sir Peter Scott.
‘Most of my work is inspired by wildlife, figures and landscapes. It features animals or places with which I have become familiar. It includes both figurative wildlife paintings and abstract landscapes inspired by visits to Wales, the Kalahari and Antarctica. However, I’m equally happy to gain inspiration at home in the garden or on the surrounding fenland.’

This May we are running a range of our popular art activity days for children aged 3 years and over. They include:
31st May – Clock Making
1st June – Rawww! Lions Mask
2nd June – Block Print Wrapping Paper Inspired by William Morris
3rd June – Get Dotty with Pointillism
Each workshop interprets the day’s theme using age appropriate materials and techniques. The different times are:
10.30-12.00pm: for 3 – 7 years
1.00-2.30pm: for 3 – 18 years
3.00-4.30pm: for 8 – 18 years
Each activity costs £6 per child and includes free entry to the museum for one accompanying adult. All activity must be booked in advance via our online booking system.

Back at Nature in Art by popular demand, come and hear this renowned community choir, which has around 70 members, for an uplifting evening of wonderful singing. The emphasis of this choir under the inspiring leadership of Hilary Davies, is on the sheer joy and diversity of singing, rather than following any particular musical style. An evening not to be missed!
Part of the proceeds in aid of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.
Heart and Soul Community Choir, Tewkesbury, started in 2003 as four harmony singing workshops for the over 50’s. It now numbers over 80 very enthusiastic and committed members of all ages.

Josie Brown is a calligrapher and heraldic artist, who has carried out carrying out commissions for the private, academic and military sectors.
She enjoys taking natural materials together with ancient techniques and using them in a contemporary manner.

Liz Brooke Ward is a stitched textile artist whose work is inspired by the natural world and the landscape. Though she specialises in traditional techniques of embroidery and patchwork, she uses digital technology within her design process.
Dare to Dabble 
Choose from 2 sessions: 10.30am – 1pm or 2pm – 4.30pm
Collage is a wonderful technique where artwork is made from an assemblage of different forms such as tissue papers, stamps, fabric, foils, photos etc – creating a new picture. The origins of collage can be traced back hundreds of years, but this technique made a dramatic reappearance in the early 20th century as an art form of novelty.
During this workshop, lots of interesting materials will be available for you to rummage through and use, but please do bring along other things that have caught your attention – perhaps a beautifully printed paper bag or old music papers.
