Butterflies are some of the most strikingly beautiful representatives of the natural world. The variety of colours and patterns make them objects of universal admiration. The paintings in this exhibition are by Ian Loe who has spent over 50 years observing and illustrating butterflies.
A fascinating display of digital artwork by Mark Ware that brings together art and science to explore how we respond to natural and built environments. It is one of a series of art science collaborations with psychologists and neuroscientists that are investigating the effects of the natural environment upon health and wellbeing.

A unique selection of ceramics by a world renowned maker, Jill Fanshawe Kato. Jill explores many techniques including coiling, slabbing, sculpting, using moulds and throwing and altering. She regards her work, which is held in collections worldwide, as sitting somewhere ‘between sculpture and painting’.

The Wildlife Art Society International’s annual exhibition of wildlife art. Around 300 paintings, drawings, original prints, photographs and sculpture by professional and part-time members of this active organisation will be on display, the majority for sale. Members will be demonstrating throughout the exhibition. (Free access to this exhibition without visiting the museum).

Liz Brooke Ward is a contemporary stitched textile artist whose work is informed by the natural world. Her techniques have their roots in the traditions of embroidery and patchwork but she also uses digital and mixed media techniques to extend their boundaries.
A rare opportunity to see a selection of original paintings and sculptures by members of The Society of Animal Artists (SAA) produced exclusively for this exhibition. A display of work by clients of the Independence Trust. The Trust strengthens people’s emotional and physical wellbeing to support them to fulfill their potential. This display, which includes interactive elements, features new artwork by some of their clients who have found art a real help and inspiration in life. On show in the Atrium of our Education Centre.
