Course Suitability: Beginners – Improvers
Maximum Capacity: 12
Course Description:
Linoprinting is an excellent introduction to relief printing. It can easily be done at home, using the minimum of equipment. Once the basics have been learned there are many variations of the technique that can be explored. In this one day workshop Richard will cover the basic tools and techniques to get started with Linoprinting, including use of the cutting tools, transferring an image onto the block, through to the inking and printing of the Lino block using a press or burnishing by hand. There will be time to practise with the cutting tools before cutting and printing your block. It is best to start with a fairly simple subject. Richard will have a selection of images available on the day, but you are welcome to bring your own images/sketches along. Two sizes of Lino blocks will be available 4 x 6 inches and 6 x 8 inches.
Materials List:
We will be using water based black printing ink and as this can stain please wear older clothes or bring an apron. There will be a small charge of £5.00 for the Lino, but all other materials are provided. Please give £5 in cash directly to Richard on the day of the course.
