This course will introduce the student to the art of origami (paper folding) to create natural forms & subjects from nature. Suitable for total beginners through to improvers, Tony will introduce students to, and explore with them, a wide range of origami techniques, styles and paper types and their application to the art. We will cover wet-folding, using foil & tissue-backed paper, craft papers, napkins, paper of different sizes, shapes and textures to suit the subject matter. Tony has a particular interest in “upcycling” paper products such as tourist leaflets, flyers, post cards etc. We will also cover using origami to make gift cards, decorations, scenes and pictures, and multi-piece or modular origami. Expect a hands-on and fun course and leave with a boxful of paper creations including animals, birds, fish, flowers, abstract and geometric forms and more.

Materials List The cost per person will be £3 which will be paid to the tutor on the day of the course.
Participants may also bring along any paper or potentially “upcycle-able” materials that they have which they would like to use on the course.
Artist’s Profile Tony O’Hare is an origami artist living in Bristol, but originally from South Wales. He has folded paper since childhood, and is currently Chair of the British Origami Society (BOS). He has created hundreds of his own designs, of various subjects and had 4 booklets of his original work published by the BOS. Tony tends to focus on the natural world and subjects close to home, often with a humorous angle to them. Currently subjects are origami scenes of Bristol and associated subjects such as Wallace & Gromit. Tony’s origami motto is “Keep folding, Keep Smiling”.
