  1. Is this really the very latest competition? The BBC website today has a totally different bunch of photos from the ones I saw yesterday. Maybe last year’s?

    • Hi Andrew,

      Yes this is definitely the latest competition, the 61st year. The NHM opened with it in October 2025 (as you can see here https://www.nhm.ac.uk/wpy/gallery), and then it travels around the country the following year. What you might have seen on the BBC Website is the People’s Choice Awards (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c150yl0y5vzo), which is a different selection of photos that are voted on after the main competition winners are chosen and announced, and does not form part of the main exhibition hence their exclusion from our gallery.
