This painting course allows people to work in their favoured medium (except oil). Terence’s vast experience of using different media and his desire to help and encourage people to use their favourite medium to best advantage, means that this will be a very personally planned course.
Using bird specimens from Terence’s own collection, participants will learn how to bring the dead specimens to life in their chosen media. Terence will talk to each participant prior to this really enjoyable and rewarding course.

Artist’s Profile
Terence is a renowned wildlife painter with work in public and private collections worldwide. His work has been reproduced in over 40 books including all the illustrations for ‘Collins British Birds’. After the inspiration of observation in the field, seeing birds as they are, Terence strives to capture not just the details but the personality of his subjects in his paintings. He also refers to his extensive collection of specimens. His work is regularly on show at Nature in Art and he has been an artist in residence and tutor many times.

Artist in Residence
Grahame Tucker is an artist who works in various media, creating original drawings, prints, painting and sculpture.
‘Shape, form and texture are elements which I focus upon in my love of land and seascape, natural forms and architectural structures. These are interpreted in an individual manner exploring a range of techniques to produce unique two and three dimensional artwork.’
Geometric and zoomorphic patterns in vibrant colours decorate the traditional garment shapes of Central and South America. A society based on woven and embroidered textiles is as relevant today as it was in the past. Angela Thompson’s collection, based on personal travels, features the woven costumes that represent the different areas of each country. A fascinating evening for all!

Wallsworth Art Group
Join the art group as they get creative with printing. The group will learn about the different types of printing blocks, made from such things as wood or polystyrene. The group will then have a go at creating their own block from polystyrene, to create mono and multi-coloured printed artworks.
There is a £1 supplement for this event.
Art Course
with Kim Thompson 10am – 5pm
Maximum Participants: 12
On this 2-day course you will be able to work from start to finish on a painting under the experienced guidance of Kim Thompson.
You will tackle the fast drying time of the paint, building layers and adding details, including eyes, fur and textures found in nature to achieve a realistic finish to the painting. Everyone will be encouraged to experiment with brushes and sponges, and to try the techniques Kim uses in her paintings.
This course will appeal to those already working with acrylics who would like to learn some new tips and ways of working which they can use in their own paintings.

Artist’s Profile
Kim Thompson enjoys painting the intricate textures and patterns found in nature and her vibrant artwork is characterised by these details.
Working as an illustrator, much of Kim’s work has been for magazines and books but she also exhibits at the Mall galleries and various UK art events. She has led painting safaris and wildlife conservation projects with children in Botswana where she finds much inspiration for paintings.
Kim’s work has been sold to collectors from around the world, including HRH Princess Michael of Kent and she has been commissioned by clients such as Royal Doulton and Blenheim Palace.

Artists in Residence
Different members of the Gloucestershire Society of Artists will be demonstrating each day, presenting a range of styles and media during the week.
This is a change from previously advertised.
Exhibition:
This display will highlight a collection of nature-inspired glass, mostly loaned by the Broadfield House Glass Museum, but will also include work from the Nature in Art collection.
A number of different techniques will be on show, demonstrating the wonderful variety of items and revealing how craftspeople have exploited the many qualities of glass to celebrate nature.
Melting Point will be on show until May 22nd.
Art Course
with Joanna Dewfall 10am – 5pm
Maximum Participants: 12
On this 1-day course you will learn about the various mosaic materials and techniques of cutting and setting. You will be able to make a 30cm square mosaic slab for the garden on a concrete paver.
You will make the design in reverse during the day and then Joanna will assist you to set the design in cement adhesive on the paver. Grouting will be demonstrated but you will need to complete this at home – grout and full instructions will be provided.

Artist’s Profile
Joanna Dewfall has been making and teaching mosaic for 25 years. Her commissions vary from exterior wall panels with school pupils across 7 counties to a recent private artwork featuring a roman design in marble as an 8 square metre pavement.

Alison Ingram is renowned for her colourful interpretations of the wildlife. She has a unique style and her passion for wildlife is reflected in her work and shows her deep understanding of animal behaviour and their interaction with the environment.

Carole Bury is a textile artist living in Gloucestershire, who works from her studio in a small village in the Cotswolds.
‘The natural world has always fascinated me. As a textile artist I combine drawings, thoughts and stitches to record and respond to the essence of the natural world. The work I produce is quiet but with an inner energy that aims to engage and draw the viewer in, to notice things they may have overlooked.’
