Come and join him for an evening of discovery, looking at some of the secrets behind a host of different pieces of beautiful glass, finding out how they were made and the skills that were employed to create them.

Join the art group as they learn about the various techniques involved in working with clay. Each member will get the chance to create their own clay sculpture, inspired by their own creativity.

Butterflies and moths are amongst our most well-known insects. This watercolour painting and sketching art course gives those who are fascinated by these ethereal creatures, the chance to study, paint and sketch them in wonderful detail.
You will get the chance to study different types of butterflies and moths in a totally unique way. Each student will have use of a high-powered microscope and beautiful butterfly and moth specimens to study the anatomical intricacy of these delicate creatures – Cath and students will discuss how butterflies and moths taste; how they eat; how they navigate; how they protect themselves against predators and to generally, pay homage to these fascinating and iconic insects.
Then, using your new-found respect and knowledge of these gorgeous, ethereal creatures, you will pay homage to their beauty by producing a piece of unique, beautiful and intricate art.

Cath Hodsman is a skilled and widely acknowledged British wildlife and natural history artist. She is also one of the most technically accomplished and accurate entomological (insects) artists – and as such, the Natural History Museum sells her work. Cath believes that, in order to pay homage to insects using art, it is necessary to capture their anatomical intricacy and she therefore strives for 100% accuracy.
To help conserve and preserve the future of insects, she works closely with many relevant organisations, such as the RHS, the Wetlands Trusts, the Wildlife Trusts and the National Trust.

Artist in Residence
Amanda Lawrence is a glass artist specialising in engraved glass and kiln formed glass. She is member of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen.
Most recently she has been working on a project inspired by her exploration of the Slad Valley where she lives.
Exhibition:
The Wildlife Art Society International annual selling exhibition of wildlife art comes to Nature in Art.
Around 300 paintings, drawings, original prints, photographs and sculpture by professional and part-time members of this active organisation will be on display, the majority for sale.
Members of the Society will also be demonstrating throughout the exhibition.
The exhibition is FREE to attend *normal admission charges apply to view the museum galleries* and is on show until June 5th.
Artist in Residence
Kim Thompson is both a wildlife artist and illustrator. She trained at Dyfed College of Art in West Wales and has always been inspired by the natural world.
She primarily works in oils acrylics and pencils, creating unique and vibrant works with realistic detail.

Dafila Scott is the daughter of the late Sir Peter Scott.
‘Most of my work is inspired by wildlife, figures and landscapes. It features animals or places with which I have become familiar. It includes both figurative wildlife paintings and abstract landscapes inspired by visits to Wales, the Kalahari and Antarctica. However, I’m equally happy to gain inspiration at home in the garden or on the surrounding fenland.’

Each workshop interprets the day’s theme using age appropriate materials and techniques. The different times are:
10.30-12.00pm: for 3 – 7 years
1.00-2.30pm: for 3 – 18 years
3.00-4.30pm: for 8 – 18 years
Each activity costs £6 per child and includes free entry to the museum for one accompanying adult. All activity must be booked in advance via our online booking system.

Back at Nature in Art by popular demand, come and hear this renowned community choir, which has around 70 members, for an uplifting evening of wonderful singing. The emphasis of this choir under the inspiring leadership of Hilary Davies, is on the sheer joy and diversity of singing, rather than following any particular musical style. An evening not to be missed!
Part of the proceeds in aid of the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation.
Heart and Soul Community Choir, Tewkesbury, started in 2003 as four harmony singing workshops for the over 50’s. It now numbers over 80 very enthusiastic and committed members of all ages.
